PEG Gas Compressor Lubricant (Series 224)
NEXT GPL PAG-EO is a polyethylene glycol (PEG) gas compressor lubricant designed for medium to heavy hydrocarbon gas compression. Its all-ethylene oxide backbone provides the most polar chemistry in the NEXT gas compressor range. The very low hydrocarbon solubility ensures operating viscosity and film strength are maintained even under continuous exposure to hydrocarbon-rich gas streams.
Product Overview
NEXT GPL PAG-EO is a polyethylene glycol (PEG) lubricant formulated with an ethylene oxide backbone. Heavier hydrocarbons typically dissolve into compressor lubricants, reducing in-service viscosity. However, the inherent polarity of the PEG backbone in NEXT GPL PAG-EO significantly limits this uptake. This makes it ideal when dissolved gas would otherwise shorten lubricant service life. Its low hydrocarbon solubility also minimizes lubricant carryover into downstream process streams.
In medium to heavy hydrocarbon gas compression and hydrocarbon heat pump applications—including propane (R-290), butane (R-600), isobutane (R-600a), pentane (R-601), and isopentane (R-601a)—NEXT GPL PAG-EO maintains optimal operating viscosity where less polar chemistries might thin out. Its thermal and oxidative stability, combined with excellent carbon and varnish control, keeps compressor internals clean over extended service intervals. Additionally, corrosion inhibition protects components in sour gas (H₂S) service.
