Gas Compressor Oils

When it comes to gas compressors, one of the most important steps in selecting a lubricant is understanding the effect of the gas on the lubricant’s properties. Some gases—particularly heavy hydrocarbons— can dissolve in the lubricant. This effect, called dilution, can pose a major challenge in gas compression systems. Dilution significantly reduces lubricant viscosity, affecting performance and protection.

Several factors influence the degree of dilution, such as pressure, temperature, and the chemical affinity between the gas and the lubricant. These variables make selecting the optimal lubricant a complex task that requires a thorough understanding of lubricant chemistry.

To streamline this process, Next Lubricants has developed a calculator called the PVT Tool. This tool models and predicts gas dilution based on operating conditions and calculates the expected viscosity.

PAG Gas Compressor Oil
GPL PAG is a polypropylene glycol based formulation that is ideal for use with light hydrocarbon gas mixtures and hydrocarbon heat pump systems.
PAG-WS Gas Compressor Oil
GPL PAG-WS is a formulation based on a copolymer of polyethylene and polypropylene glycol (1:1/EO:PO) that is ideal for use with heavy hydrocarbon gases.
Polyethylene Glycol Gas Compressor Oil
GPL PAG-EO is a polyethylene glycol (PEG) based gas compressor lubricant that ensures negligible dilution with hydrocarbon gasses.
PAO Gas Compressor Oil
GPL PAO is a gas compressor lubricant that combines polyalphaolefin and advanced additives. This combination ensures excellent stability and cleanliness over a wide operating range. GPL PAO is ideal for applications that are prone to carbon and varnish buildup. GPL PAO also offers better stability and water separation compared to ester and PAG formulations when utilized in high water content gas streams. GPL PAO has a high viscosity index and a very low pour point allowing for operations over a wide temperature range.
Inert PAO Gas Compressor Oil
GPL N-PAO is a gas compressor lubricant that combines polyalphaolefin base-oils and neutral non-reactive additives. This combination ensures reliable operation in both inert and reactive gas environments.
Food Grade PAO Gas Compressor Oil
GPL PAO-FG is a food grade PAO based gas compression lubricant that has been formulated for use in applications where incidental food contact is possible. Ideal for CO2 compression applications.
Mineral Gas Compressor Oil
GPL MIN is a gas compressor lubricant that combines hydrotreated mineral oils and advanced additives. GPL MIN can be used in non- and light hydrocarbon gas mixtures.
Ester Gas Compressor Oil
GPL Ester is a full synthetic ester-based gas compressor lubricant that has been formulated for use in air and gas compressors with high discharge temperatures.
Compressor Oil and Cleaner
Aero LC is a diester based compressor lubricant and cleaner. This fully formulated compressor lubricant safely cleans compressors of varnish and sludge deposits while in operation. Aero LC is compatible with most mineral oil, PAO, ester and PAG/ester-based compressor oils.
